Company History

Zimco was founded over two decades ago by James L. Zimmerman after a successful career in executive search in Pittsburgh area.

Jim’s primary emphasis at the beginning was in the financial discipline, placing controllers, CFO’s and financial analysts for Guess, Transamerica Financial, Koll Management and Ralph's among others. As
business expanded and Zimco’s staff grew, the company’s emphasis broadened. The last 6 years however, the focus has changed to recruit specifically, with his team of top recruiters, exclusively for the aerospace industry. Successful search assignments included a broad spectrum of positions as divergent as designers, hyperspectral analysts to program managers.

Current projects include major searches for systems and mechanical engineers as well as team leaders/program managers for top worldwide aerospace firms.

The best candidate for any search client is an individual who is successful in his or her current position, and who will make a career change only if the new opportunity is real and substantial.

Therefore, in every facet of Zimco’s search - from discovery of the essence of the client’s need during the initial interview to the final pre-employment interview - great care is taken in matching the needs of the client with the experience of the candidate. A top objective has always been to accomplish the search in a timely manner.

The Principal

JAMES L. ZIMMERMAN received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Bethany College. He held increasingly more responsible positions with International Business Associates, managing  a staff   50 consultants . His specialties included Engineering, Financial, Human Resource and General Management.

In 1975 Zimmerman moved his offices to Los Angeles, managing up to 15 associates and placing 100 + candidates per year.. He moved to his current location in Westlake  in 1997 .  He is a certified employment counselor (CEC) and a recognized authority in the executive search field.
